Storytelling: Featured Teller at The Story Space, 2017

On the evening of Tuesday, May 9th, 2017, I had the honor of being Featured Teller at The Story Space. Renowned storyteller Doria Hughes was my videographer.

TABLE OF CONTENTS, Part 1:

0:01 — “The Cremation of Sam McGee” by Robert W. Service.

6:10 — “The White Hare,” folktale from England, my version based on the one in the collection “Tatterhood and Other Tales” by Ethel Johnston Phelps.

16:45 — “Appointment in Samarra,” version by W. Somerset Maugham, performance based on that of Boris Karloff in “Targets” (dir. Peter Bogdanovich, 1968).

18:56 — “King Ironhead,” folktale from Vienna collected by the Brothers Grimm, version retold by me (I didn’t make up the poop jokes, honest) (sorry, this was cut off when the camera died briefly, trust me, it was awesome)

TABLE OF CONTENTS, Part 2:

0:01 — “King Ironhead,” concluded. (Folktale collected by the Brothers Grimm in Vienna, version by me.)

9:45 — “The Shee an Gannon,” version by me, based on Joseph Jacobs’ “Celtic Fairy Tales.” Original here for contrast: http://www.luminarium.org/mythology/i…

20:25 — “Bisclavret,” my poem based on the story of the same name in the Lais of Marie de France. (sorry it gets interrupted — the ending is in the next segment!) Literal translation here for contrast: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/11417/…
